Taxis set alight in the Johannesburg CBD

Four minibuses torched in Joburg CBD as taxi violence erupts
On Saturday morning, four minibus taxis were set alight in the Johannesburg CBD, in what is thought to be another round of taxi violence.

The busy Commissioner Street has been closed, according to Johannesburg Metro Police Department spokesperson Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar.

“At least four taxis are on fire, probably linked to taxi violence. I am on my way to the scene,” he said.

The event occurred near the Carlton Centre, a popular shopping center in the heart of the city.
